Advanced Practitioner Training | Root-Cause Healing | Holistic Care

Rebekah Barlup is a dedicated Functional Medical Naturopath and Clinical Herbalist with over 15 years of experience in herbal medicine and five years in private practice. She holds a Doctor of Naturopathy degree from Trinity School of Natural Health and a Bachelor's in Neuropsychology from Lebanon Valley College. Rebekah has completed elite-level training in functional medicine through Restorative Wellness Solutions, where she remains an active member of their graduate network, receiving ongoing mentorship and clinical support.

Her practice is rooted in a deep commitment to uncovering the root causes of chronic illness. With advanced training in gastrointestinal healing, microbiome restoration, and food sensitivity management, Rebekah uses comprehensive testing to assess bacterial, viral, and parasitic imbalances, H. pylori, pancreatic enzyme and bile production, and nutrient assimilation. She integrates this data with a thorough review of medications, supplements, and lifestyle factors to create personalized care plans that support long-term healing and optimal health.

Rebekah and her husband live on a small farm where they raised their six children. Their life is rich with music, art, history, and time spent in nature. You can often find Rebekah hiking in the woods with her three dogs, drawing inspiration and grounding from the natural world that informs her healing philosophy.

She offers meal planning, herbal care packages, and annual wellness check-ins to help clients maintain vibrant health year-round. Now a proud member of The Restorative Center, Rebekah is honored to collaborate with a team of like-minded practitioners and to receive clinical mentorship from esteemed functional medicine expert Dr. Chris Turnpaugh.

Whether you're navigating chronic illness or simply seeking to optimize your health, Rebekah offers compassionate, evidence-informed care that bridges the best of traditional wisdom and modern science.

Rebekah’s initial interest in natural health began with a love of animals, over 30 years ago after reading James Herriot's If Only They Could Talk. Her compassionate and empathetic nature is central to the way she practices, and why she focused her undergraduate studies at Lebanon Valley College on neuropsychology and human development. She took graduate level courses in psychology and worked on a team which published research on sensation and perception.

After time, she felt the huge separation between the prevailing scientific research model, and her love for working directly with people.  She took a break from academia to raise a family. In 2001, her son was diagnosed with asthma. "He was given life saving drugs, necessary at the time, but his pediatrician didn't offer any long term alternative treatments. After every administration, my son had a hard time sitting still and was eventually diagnosed with behavior issues. I knew there was a connection to the pharmaceuticals."

That's when Dr. Barlup’s path to heal her son led to her first mentor, Dr. Francis Patrick Tierney of Hershey, PA. "He was a chiropractor and a Naturopath, and used natural remedies and dietary adjustments which allowed my son to recover and heal. I still use Dr. Tierney's recommendations when working with my clients." He was Dr. Barlup’s inspiration to become a Naturopathic Doctor and after completing her studies at Trinity Natural Health, she continued her education with the North American Institute for Medical Herbalism. When Dr. Tierney passed in 2011, Dr. Barlup transferred her family's care to Dr. Turnpaugh at Turnpaugh Health and Wellness Center in Mechanicsburg, PA, who later became her mentor.

Rebekah took Dr. Turnpaugh's suggestion to enroll in Restorative Wellness Solution's practitioner training.  Once again, this brought her back to the scientific approach of testing and assessment. Now she weaves these assessment tools with her clinical abilities in an integrated way. "It's truly the art and science of natural health," she says. "I learned firsthand that a real integrated approach doesn't mean ignoring science, but working with it alongside my intuition."

Sometimes, this integrative approach includes collaborative care with other practitioners. "I realize that I help clients see where the pieces of the puzzle fall. I don't operate as a primary doctor, I prefer my clients maintain a relationship with their primary medical team while working with me. Modern allopathic medicine offers life saving care, as in my husband's situation where he needed a kidney transplant due to chronic chemical exposure in industrial H/VAC."
